Ryker passed May 6 just before 2am due to congestive heart failure. His last rally trial was two weeks before he
passed. Ryker was 14. He was competing in Rally and back in Veteran's Conformation up until the end. Physically his condition was of a much younger dog, it was just his heart that could not keep up.
(Pointed towards his American Ch. and UKC Ch.) Ryker is a work-o-holic, a real go-getter. He is a rugged, rough and
tumble boy who loves nothing more than a hard day of work and then a hard rest.
Along with having competed in Conformation, Obedience and Agility, Ryker is a retired Therapy Dog. For several years he happily visited residents
at a rehabilitation facility. This was probably his favorite job - second to being our buddy!
Ryker is semi out of retirement and starting in Rally Obedience.
He got his first Rally Novice leg at 13 1/2 with a third place Sheltie at the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Baltimore Rally trial this past summer. His second leg was awarded in W. Springfield, MA the Friday after Thanksgiving. Ryker finished his Rally Novice just shy of his 14th birthday. Due to a heart condition (luckily not hereditary), Ryker will go into Rally Advanced and he cannot continue in Agility.
